Weather Gray provides local weather information for Gray and the surrounding community in Georgia at weathergray.com. This policy covers the Weather Gray Live website and Android app. The app displays the website in an embedded browser (WebView). You can view weather information without creating an account or providing your name.

Information collected

Our hosting provider may receive standard technical information when you use the website or app, such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and visit time. This information helps operate and protect the website.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website and app and to improve it. Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, visit activity, approximate location, and browser and device details. It uses cookies to help distinguish visits. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Sponsorship inquiries

If you choose to submit our sponsorship form, we collect your business name, contact name, email address, and any phone number, website, or comments you provide. We use these details to respond to your inquiry and discuss sponsorship. Make and our email services process the submitted information to deliver the inquiry and a confirmation email. Submitting the form does not purchase a sponsorship or authorize a charge.

The form uses a necessary session cookie to protect submissions and prevent duplicates. A short-lived submission timestamp associated with a hashed network address helps limit repeated requests. Your answers are also held in Make’s processing records and our email correspondence. To ask about or request deletion of an inquiry, contact us using the details below and identify the email address you used.

Cookies

Google Analytics may place cookies on your device to measure use of the website, including within the app. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. For the Android app, Android’s app storage settings allow you to clear its locally stored browsing data; doing so may reset app preferences.

Weather information and outside links

Weather Gray displays local weather-station readings and information or images from services such as WeatherLink, the UGA Weather Network, sunrise-sunset.org, and the National Weather Service. When your browser or app requests third-party forecasts, sun times, radar, or analytics, those services receive technical request information, such as your IP address. Weather requests use the station’s fixed location in Gray, Georgia; they do not require your phone’s GPS location. The website also links to outside sites, including NOAA radar and our local sponsors. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Soil moisture is retrieved from the UGA Weather Network by our server and served through this website. Viewing that reading does not send your browser directly to UGA. Following an outside UGA link is subject to that site’s privacy practices.

How information is used

We use website and app information to provide the weather site, review its usage, improve its performance, and address technical or security problems. Our hosting provider and Google may process information as described above to provide their services.

Security

The website and app use HTTPS to encrypt information in transit to the weather site. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention and deletion

Our Google Analytics property is configured to retain event-level data for 2 months and user-level data for 14 months. The setting to reset user retention on new activity is enabled: new activity restarts the retention period for the associated user identifier, so it may remain for longer than 14 months if you continue visiting. These settings do not apply to most standard reports based on aggregated data, which may remain available longer.

Hostinger provides our web hosting and CDN/security services. Hostinger does not publish a fixed retention period for underlying visitor access, CDN, or security logs. The recent log window visible in the hosting dashboard is not a guarantee of total retention. These records are handled under Hostinger’s privacy policy and may be retained for security, abuse prevention, legal obligations, or other operational purposes.

You may clear cookies and local browsing data using the controls described above. This does not automatically delete records already held by service providers. Because viewing weather does not require an account, there is no Weather Gray Live user account to delete.

Hostinger’s published web-hosting backup schedule retains daily backups for 7 days and weekly backups for 6 weeks. Backup retention is separate from log retention and does not mean all visitor records expire within those periods. Individual daily backups cannot be manually deleted through the hosting dashboard.

Request deletion of your data

1. Email expressmail@cox.net with the subject “Weather Gray Live data deletion request.”
2. Tell us whether you used the website or Android app, the approximate dates of your visits, and which data you want deleted. Please do not send passwords, tax information, or identity documents.
3. For Analytics data, use the button below in the same browser or app you used to view the weather. Include the displayed identifier in your email if available. Each browser or app may have a different identifier. The button only reads an existing cookie on your device; it does not send a deletion request or transmit the identifier.

We do not link Analytics visits to your name or email address, so your email alone may not identify those records. If cookies have already been cleared or blocked, the identifier may be unavailable. You can still contact us, and we will explain what information can be identified.

For identifiable Analytics records, we can submit a deletion request to Google using its user-deletion tools. Google controls the processing time; deletion is not immediate. Individual records in Hostinger’s infrastructure logs cannot be deleted through our hosting dashboard. For requests involving hosting, CDN, or security logs, we will contact Hostinger to determine whether the relevant records can be identified and deleted. Hostinger may retain records where required for legal, security, or operational reasons. We will let you know if more information is needed or if a provider limitation prevents deletion.

Reports containing aggregated data that cannot be associated with you may remain. Records may also be retained where required by law or necessary for security; we will explain any applicable exception and retention period when responding. The retention settings above continue to apply to records that have not been deleted. Deletion of past records does not stop new Analytics collection if you continue using the website or app.

Children’s privacy

Weather Gray provides general weather information and does not ask visitors to create accounts or submit personal information to view it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website, app, or their services change. The effective date above will show when it was last revised.
